NAGY, Franklin G. - of Davison, MI passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the age of 85 following a brief illness. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Jim Offrink officiating. A Committal Service will be held 10 AM Thursday, January 9, 2020 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. The family will receive visitors 2-7 PM Tuesday, January 7, 2020 and 10-11 AM Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home. Donations may be made in Mr. Nagy’s memory to Hospice House of Shiawassee County, 2005 Copas Road, Owosso, MI 48867 or to Outreach East, 425 North Genesee Street, Davison, MI 48423.

Mr. Nagy was born in Flint, MI and graduated from Flint Central High School, the University of Michigan, and Michigan State University. Frank worked as an educator in the Flint Community Schools and as an administrator in the Port Austin Schools. He was especially proud of his tenure as Assistant Athletic Director at Flint Northwestern High School during its reign as a top basketball program in the state of Michigan.

Frank was a member of the Army ROTC unit at the University of Michigan and held the rank of captain in the US Army Reserves. He was active for many years in the Hungarian Reformed Church of Flint; the Flint Elks Club; the Michigan Duck Hunters Association; the North American Waterfowl Federation; and the Eight Point Hunt Club of Alpena, MI. He supervised girls’ summer softball programs in Flint, volunteered with the annual Flint CANUSA Games, and worked as a photographer for VanDyke Studio.

Mr. Nagy is survived by Eileen Nagy, his wife of 61 years; son Franklin A. Nagy (Amy) of Burton, MI; daughters Elizabeth Potter (Jack) of Grand Haven, MI and Lauretta Nagy of Goodrich, MI; grandsons John Potter of Los Angeles, CA, Tom Potter of Grand Haven, MI, and Peter Nagy of Berkley, MI; granddaughters Amy Potter of Los Angeles, CA, Tessa Wightman of Gaines, MI, and Callie Wightman of Goodrich, MI; brother Gerald J. Nagy (Pam) of Davison, MI; and sister-in-law Margie (Paul) Wright of Ann Arbor, MI. Frank was preceded in death by his parents Frank P. and Elizabeth Nagy of Flint, MI.

The Nagy family would like to thank the staff at McLaren Hospital and Hospice House of Shiawassee County for the care provided during Frank’s illness.
