Susan Louise Smith (Grant) was born on May 28th, 1944 in Alma, MI to Wayne and Alice Grant. She passed away at home June 24th, 2018 after a well fought battle with cancer and surrounded with love.
Susan moved to Flint in 1958 and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1962. She was one of a kind, a play by your own rules kind of woman. She worked hard in the printing industry for more than 30 years mostly in the Flint area. They say it takes a village to raise a child. As a single parent our mother she was our village. She enjoyed living her life, bowling, playing euchre at the local bars, going to concerts, golf, crafting and even bought and taught herself how to ride a motorcycle while living in North Carolina until retirement in 2002 when she returned to Michigan and settled in Durand.
Sue leaves a legacy of 3 Loving daughters, Jennifer Dillon (Bill), Debbie (Mike) Osburn, Denise Smith-Vogt (Paul). 10 Amazing Grandchildren, 3 bonus grandchildren, and 12 beautiful Great-Grandchildren. She also leaves 2 sisters, 2 brothers, many other family, friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bob, and her Great-Granddaughter Sadie Lynn.
In lieu of flowers, our Mother request donations are made to Susan.downthevent.com all money raised through Down the Vent is given directly to Children's Miracle Network via Extra Life.
A very special heartfelt thank-you to The Medical Team Hospice team for taking such loving care of our mother. A memorial service will be 1:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2018 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. |
