STANDAL, Robert W. - Of Flint, age 87, died Sunday, August 16, 2015 at McLaren-Flint.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Thursday, August 20, 2015 at 10:30am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 706 Beach Street, Flint.
Robert will lie in state in church Thursday after 10am.
Father Ronald Scheible, O.S.A. will preside and interment will follow in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery with military rites.
Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4-7pm with a Rosary Wednesday evening at 7pm at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Robert was born in Flint on July 5 , 1928. On March 15, 1951, he married Margaret Bergeron. Bob proudly served with the United States Army in Korea. He was a life-long parishioner of St. Matthew Catholic Church and was a member of the Flint Optimist Club. Mr. Standal started with Genesee County Friend of the Court in 1959 and was appointed by Governor George Romney to the Head of the Friend of the Court in January, 1964. His dedication to children and families was exemplary. Under his leadership, the Friend of the Court Child Support Collections were nationally acclaimed.
Surviving are wife, Margaret C. Standal;
children, Robert W. Standal Jr., and fiancee, Deborah VanWormer, Thomas P. Standal and wife Maria, James E. Standal and wife Lisa, Mary Lisa Joslyn and husband Mark, Ann-Marie Standal Okros;
grandchildren, Bobby Standal III and wife Heather, Adam Standal and wife Cheri, Michael Standal, Darian Standal, Tommy Standal II, Allie Standal, Jane Standal, Louis Joslyn, Nick Joslyn, Sophia Okros, Ava Okros and Larson Okros.
sister, Madalyn Standal Underwood;
brothers-in-law, Donald Underwood and Norbert Bergeron.
