MEAGHER, Leo F. - Of Flint, age 94, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at The Oaks of Woodfield. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. Matthew Catholic Church 706 Beach Street in Flint, Father Frederick H. Taggart O.S.A. officiating. Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Powers Catholic High School.
Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Meagher will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
Mr. Meagher was born in Mt. Morris Township, Michigan on May 3, 1920, the son of the late Henry and Grace (Allen) Meagher. He married Lorraine Lavalle on August 23, 1947 in Flint. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and loved to golf and fish. Mr. Meagher graduated from Ferris State College of Pharmacy and owned and operated Taylor Drug Store in Flint for 25 year.
Surviving are his
wife, Lorraine;
children, Christine (Donald) Owen of Flint, Gregory (Karen) Meagher of Swartz Creek, Michael (Cathy) Meagher of Manistee, Kathleen (Harvey) Fridline of Burton;
grandchildren, Kelly (Robert) Irwin, Lisa (Michael) Martin, Meredith Fridline, Capt. Garrett Fridline US Army, Roman Fridline and Patrick Meagher;
great-grandchildren, Wyatt Irwin, Dylan Irwin, Kaitlym Martin and Lauren Martin;
sister-in-law, Barbara Lavalle;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Henry, William, Betty and Mary Ruth.
