REDMOND, Robert Earl - age 85, of Fenton, died Monday, December 19, 2016. Funeral mass will be celebrated 2 PM Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 600 N. Adelaide St., Fenton with Fr. David Harvey celebrant. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Thursday at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton where a Knights of Columbus rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Thursday evening. Visitation will also be held 1 PM - 2 PM Friday at the church. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Fr. Harvey Legacy Fund of the St. John Educational Foundation, St. John Outreach or the Alzheimer's Association. Robert was born March 24, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the son of John Lawrence and Jennie (Triestam) Redmond. He attended both Western Michigan University and the University of Michigan. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He married Judith Ann Evans on August 11, 1956 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 1972. He then married Marilyn Sweet Pratt on December 13, 1974. Robert retired in 1990 from Lever Brothers Company after 31 years of service in sales and management. When moving to Fenton in 1969, he became an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church serving as a Lector and an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist at church and to patients at Genesys Health Park. He was active in the Christ Renews His Parish and BeFrienders Ministries at St. John. Robert was a 3rd Degree member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 7418 and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Assembly 2031. He also served as the Conferring Officer of the Knights of Columbus for many years. Robert was a member and past-president of the Grocery Manufacturing Representative Organization of Eastern Michigan, former member of the Lake Fenton School Board and the Lake Fenton Sailing Club. Robert was a devoted man to his family, his Church and God. Surviving are: wife, Marilyn Redmond of Fenton; four daughters, Phyllis (Randy) Forster of Milford, Jennifer (Darrell) Youngquest of Farmington Hills, Jacqueline (Michael) Walker of London, Ontario, Canada, and Robyn (Bradley) Little of Papillion, NE; step-son, James (Stephanie) Pratt of Howell; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Suzanne), Alicia and Zachary Little, Alexander Stansberry, Kristine, Alyson and Thomas Walker, and Nicholas Pratt; one great-granddaughter, June Little; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife; step-son, John Pratt; sister, Gloria Copeland; and brother, David Redmond.
