Helen Jean Edwards age 88 of Lennon, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel, with Pastor Mike Prince and Chaplain Tony Ferriel officiating. Family will receives friends on Wednesday from 1-3 and 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon.
Helen was born on February 29, 1924 in Stockbridge, MI, the daughter of Charles and Estella(Hodge)Breese. She attended the Shaftsburg and Perry schools. She married Howard Edwards in Corunna on September 8, 1938 and he predeceased her in 1985. She was a Homemaker, worked as a waitress and worked at the Smeltzer Factory. She lived most of her life in Durand and later went to live with her daughter Dawn in Lennon.
She is survived by five sons; Russell(Jacqueline))of Copemish,MI, Robert(Mary Jane)of Durand, Jack(Becky)of Marion, MI, David(Lisa)of Lennon and Howard (Lisa)of Sring Hill, TN, three daughters; Barbara (Darold) Bernard of FL, Rhea (Harold) Fremd of Durand and Dawn(Dan) Alacheff of Lennon, sister Evelyn Sparks of Owosso, 19 grandchildren, 40 great- grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her granddaughter Shana Edwards, five brothers and five sisters. Special thanks to friends Pat Kimmerer, Marge Michaels, Barney Patterson and nieces and nephews who always kept in close contact. Memorials can be made to Heartland Hospice.
