SCOTT, Mrs. Evelene Alice - age 75, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Family hour 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at Heavenly Host Full Gospel Baptist Church, 2202 W. Dartmouth St. with funeral service commencing at 12 p.m. Bishop M.C. Akins officiating. Interment Lovedale Memorial Cemetery, 5175 E. Bristol Rd., Burton, MI. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Church 11:30 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Scott will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd. and may be viewed from 1 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday, with family present 1 p.m.-8 p.m.
Mrs. Evelene Alice Scott was born March 19, 1938 to the union of the late Mr. Eddie Lawrence and Irene Pea. Evelene attended Flint Public Schools and she retired from Hurley Medical Center (Dietary); She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching television, especially Judge Mathis, Steve Harvey, and Lifetime. Evelene was known to tell those she encountered on a daily basis just the way it was. Evelene united in Holy Matrimony with Leroy Alfred Scott Sr., in April of 1965. Leroy expressed his loyalty as well as his dedication to not only his wife but his children and grandchildren as well.
Mrs. Scott leaves to cherish her memory: husband of fourty eight years, Leroy Scott Sr., of Flint; 2 daughters, Shawn (Donnie) Merriweather of Grand Blanc, MI, Felecia (Gregory) Sanders of Flint; 2 Sons, Leroy Scott Jr., dedicated, faithful, and youngest son, Eric Thurman Scott both of Flint; 11 grandchildren, Corey (Porsha) Black, Quanesha, Jerome, LaQuisha, Eric Jr., Erecha, Cierra, Jaylin, Myah, Mariah and Javon all of Flint; 4 great grandchildren, Tiler, Daryl, Aston, and Eden all of Flint; 2 brothers, Charles Teaberry of Sherwood Oaks, CA, and Arnold Pea of Flint; and a host of other relatives and friends including her God sister as well as lifelong friend Bethel Brown; dear friends, Betty Purdue, Sandra Boone, Laura Carroll, and Margaret Cooney.
Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Edward Pea; grandson, Lamar Black Jr.; aunt, Gussie Ball; nephew, Terannce Grear.
