MARKS, Rita Catherine - Age 75, of Fenton, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 309 E. Maple St., Holly. Fr. David Blazek celebrant. Burial in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Fenton. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Thursday from 1-4 and 6-9 PM and at church Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A vigil service will be held at the funeral home 6:30 PM Thursday. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to St. Rita Catholic Church or perform an act of kindness for a loved one.
Rita was born August 21, 1938 in Flint the daughter of Daniel and Irma (Leis) Goldsmith. She married E. Jackson Marks October 7, 1961 in Flushing. She retired from the GM Proving Grounds after 25 years of service. Rita had resided in Fenton since 1968. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church.
Surviving are: husband, E. Jackson; 3 children, Jackie Fultz and husband John of Holly, Michael Marks and wife Kim of Indianapolis, IN, and Dr. Linda Marks Grant and husband Mitchell of St. Louis, MO; 5 grandchildren, Lauren, Alana, John, Nathan, and Rachel; 2 sisters, Pat Palmer and husband Jim of St. Charles and Barb Applebee of Clio; brother, David Goldsmith of Flushing; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Laura and Liza.
