Lucille was born in Flint, April 24, 1922, the daughter of James and Alexandra (Heos) Menoutes.
She graduated from Flint Central High School in 1940. She was an esteemed secretary/bookkeeper at Hockstad Pharmacy for 27 years and continued serving her private bookkeeping clients into her very early 90’s.
Being the eldest born in a family of five, Lucille possessed first child attributes, namely responsibility, conscientiousness, and impeccable grace. She truly exemplified a woman of strength. She demonstrated courage and dignity in the midst of life’s challenges. Her strength, courage, and faith in God was evident throughout her life and she was so appreciative of all her blessings. Lucille’s talent and creativity was legendary with her wreath making, specialty bows, table settings, and holiday decorating all done with attention to detail that only an artistic visionary could produce. Each year for the past 45 years, she created and donated a specialty hand made Christmas wreath to benefit her church fundraiser. Continuing in her fundraising efforts, she initiated the Giving Tree Project. Parishioners then purchased ornaments with personalized names which were hung on the church Christmas tree.
She enjoyed talking and reminiscing with her brother-in-law John about her proud World War II employment with the federal W.P.A. (Works Projects Administration). Her greatest joys in life were her children and extended family.
She was truly a Woman of Love, Strength, Courage, and Dignity who believed in always keeping your faith and your sense of humor! She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, as angels usher her soul to heaven.Luke 16:22
She is survived by: her children, Barbara (Darwin) Asa, Alexis (Michael) Kus, and James (Kimberly) Chiavaras; grandchildren, Cheralyn Asa, Margie Kus, and Kathryn Kus; several great grandchildren; sister, Pauline (John) Mandelaris; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her son, Thomas P. Chiavaras, Jr., and siblings, Helen Bachakes, Katherine Bachakes, and George Menoutes. |
