BRYANT, Melba Howell. – Born in Dugger, Indiana on March 28, 1920 and died March 10, 2016 where she resided at Prestige Pointe Lifehouse Grand Blanc. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Howell and Chloe Rector Howell, her husband Thomas G. Bryant and brother The Rev. Robert L. Howell. She is survived by her son Daniel L., daughter Deborah K. (Ronald) Schlis, proud grandmother to Nathan G. (Mary) Tyler J., adored great-grandson Dominic A. and great-granddaughter Riley K., dear to her heart Benjamin Watson and Jack Ryan Watson, Arianna Schlis and Madison Schlis, sister-in-law Gladys Watson, nephews Jeffrey (Kathy) Watson, Bradley Watson, Patrick (Kate) Howell, Kevin Howell, all of her beloved family and wonderful friends.
Melba graduated in 1938 from Flint Central High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Miller Business Services and Millhouse and Holaly CPA Office. Melba resided at Grand Meadows Senior Living for 20 years. She loved her friends there and considered them family. She found great joy in the time spent as an instructor of exercise classes and chair dancing there.
Melba lived her last years at Prestige Pointe Lifehouse, surrounded by many friends who we feel are our extended family.
A special thank you to all the staff at Prestige Pointe, the Med Team and Hospice for their loving care they give. To all who ministered to her, she was immensely comforted by the assurance God was with her.
In lieu of flowers, Melba request donations be given to Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church or Fish Organization.
Services will be held at 11am Monday, March 14, 2016 at Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church, 4040 Lapeer Road, Burton. Pastor Susan Lidums officiating.
Visitation 2-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Monday at church until the time of the service.
Cremation will take place following the service and she will be laid to rest at Sunset Hills Cemetery.
