William A. Stevens Sr.
Age 86 of Bannister passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Ashley Care Center.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00pm on Friday, December 2.
William was born on January 27, 1930 to Lorenzo and Frieda (Schlager) Stevens in St. Charles. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Mildred "Millie" Mahoney on April 30, 1955.
William worked for GM for many years, retiring in 1991. During his life, he enjoyed being outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, camping, and driving through northern Michigan. He also loved bowling and reading. William also played in the Chesaning Senior Softball League.
William is survived by his children, Bill Stevens Jr. (Susan Butler), Donna (Lawrence) Evans, Betty Doerr, Ron (Sue) Stevens, Carl (Peggy) Stevens, and Dave (Sharry) Stevens; his 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Elsie Boggio and Doris Stenzel; and his sister-in-law, Laurie Stevens.
He is predeceased by his wife, Millie; his parents; his parents-in-law; his twin sons, Michael and Mark; his brothers, Roy, Richard, and Ralph; his sisters, Pearl, Marie, Florence, and Helen; and his son-in-law, Andy Doerr.
