MCWHERTER, Tommy Ray. - of Montrose, age 78, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Lamb of God Fellowship, 214 N. Saginaw St. in Montrose. Rev. Duane Vickerman officiating. Burial to follow in Montrose Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Wednesday from 12-2PM and 4-8PM, and at the church on Thursday from 10AM until time of services at 11AM.
Tommy was born in Arbyrd, MO on November 15, 1935 son of the late Robert & Rosa Belle (Shrum) McWherter. Tommy graduated from Gaines High School and married Patricia Spinning on July 29, 1955. He was employed at Buick a later retired from General Motors. Tommy loved spending time with his family restoring Chevelles, fishing and was a Detroit Tigers fan.
Tommy is survived by: two sons and daughter-in-law, Dale and Michael (Melissa) McWherter; two granddaughters, Savannah and Kelsi; sisters, Doris Papineau, Melva Beasley and Brenda (Tony) Bishop; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hinkle & Jeannie Spinning; brother-in-law, Bob (Betty) Spinning; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: his wife, Patricia; brother, Robert (Bob) McWherter; sister, Gladys Tallmadge; brothers-in-law, Chuck, Jerry, Jim, Richie and Stubb.
