RICHARDSON, William Lance – Of Grand Blanc, age 76, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
The friends may gather with the family on Friday from 3-8 p.m. and 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital.
William was born on April 17, 1939 in Flint, Michigan at Hurley Hospital, the son of the late Mary Helen (Liska) and William George Richardson.
On June 27, 1959 Bill married Sharon Sowden. They shared 56 years together.
William, or Bill as he was called by friends, belonged to the Junior Chamber of Commerce and was Secretary of the Grand Blanc Optimist International, Past President and Lieutenant Governor, Master Mason life member, 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner of Elf Khurafeh Temple, he was known as “Duce” the clown, Security Unit Potentates Rep, President of Fenton Shrine Club-Ambassador.
Bill graduated from Northern High School in 1957, and attended GMI and Baker College.
He spent 52 years in the insurance business, also managed Wrigley’s Supermarket at the age of 18.
Bill was very good hearted to people in need and gave 18 years to the Genesee Association of Retired Citizens and was President for three terms and was a Board Member.
He loved spending time with his family, enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving his Cougar to auto shows.
Bill was married to his childhood sweetheart of 56 years, Sharon Louise Sowden, on June 27, 1959. She survives along with his dearly loved children,
Stacy Gillman and husband Phillip Gillman;
grandsons, Blake and Bryce Gillman;
son, Lance Richardson and Kathleen Orr; grandchildren, Derek William Richardson, Brennen and Kennedy Orr;
and beloved mother-in-law, Greta Fern Sowden.
