Roberson, Woodie L. – of Flint, age 81, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025, at his home in Manistee. Funeral services will be held at 1PM, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designations.
Woodie was born July 19, 1943, in Rural, Alabama, Woodie graced the world with his gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to his family and community. Woodie graduated from Central High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with adventure and service. On May 27, 2004, he joyfully married Shirley Simons. A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Woodie enlisted on July 31, 1962, and honorably served until his discharge on June 18, 1965, achieving the rank of Corporal. His pride in his military service was a testament to his character and commitment to his country. Woodie dedicated more than 25 years of his life to protecting others as a firefighter for the City of Flint. Known for his easy-going nature and down-to-earth demeanor, he earned the admiration and respect of colleagues and community members alike. He embodied the spirit of service, lending his strength and compassion to those in need. Outside of his work, Woodie found joy in various hobbies, including fishing, hunting, and collecting guns. He was a talented photographer and a proud member of the photography club in Manistee, where he loved capturing the beauty of sunsets—a reflection of his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. More than anything, Woodie cherished his family. He was a steadfast presence in their lives and a source of wisdom and laughter.
Surviving are: Loving wife, Shirley Roberson; Children: Andrew (Gina) Roberson, Christine Roberson, John (Shiloh) Roberson, Dennis (Melissa) Simons, and Liza (Greg) Gulliver; Grandchildren: Aiden, Ericka, Josh, Kyle, Maggie and Katie; Brothers: Lee (Maria) Roberson, Jesse (Kay) Roberson, Jeff Roberson; Many nieces and nephews.
