PEEK, Mae Faith – Of Flint, age 92, admired daughter, loving sister, beloved and cherished aunt and great-aunt, passed away Monday, April 29, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be held 1pm Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,

Father Paul Donnelly officiating.

Burial in Flint Memorial Park.

Those desiring may make contributions to the North End Soup Kitchen or Heartland Hospice.

Visitation 2-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A Rosary will be prayed at 7pm Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 12pm Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Mae was born in Saginaw, Michigan on May 7, 1926, the youngest of nine children to Cecil and Bella Peek. Mae loved her brothers, sisters, and parents, and provided care for her own parents until their eventual passing. Mae loved reminiscing with friends and family about growing up on the Eastside of Flint and her years working in both Detroit and Flint. Following high school, Mae moved to Detroit where she worked for many years as a switchboard operator and later as a supervisor with Michigan Bell, where she retired in 1982. As a supervisor, Mae enjoyed instructing and teaching most. Mae enjoyed time with her family, traveling, playing cards, good food, and good company. She was a dedicated and devoted parishioner and charter member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Burton, Michigan where she was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Mae leaves behind her cherished sister, Arlene Johnson;

Along with many special nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great nieces and more.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Bella Peek; 3 sisters, Gladys Kulpa, Evelyn Wilson and Thelma Bostwick; 3 brothers, James Peek, Emerson Peek, Thomas Peek and Duane Peek.

Mae was adored by many, she lived her life according to her deep faith in God, and even in death she continues to inspire those she loved through her enduring faith. When asked what advice she would give to future generations, Mae said, “God is great,” and “laughter. Remember laughter.”
