DOWNEY , June D. ( Walker ) – of Montrose, age 67, returned to her heavenly home on July 28, 2015 . Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, July 31, 2015 at Montrose United Methodist Church . Reverend Susan Bennett Stiles officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Paul, at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 11 AM Tuesday August 4, 2015 . Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Thursday from 2-8 PM and at the church on Friday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM . A memorial service by the Montrose Order of Eastern Star will be held at 10 AM Friday at the church. Contributions may be made to the Montrose Masonic Lodge.
June was born July 12, 1948 in Flint to the late Charles and Bessie (Elkins) Walker. She married her best friend, Paul Downey, on December 24, 1986 in Montrose. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2010 . She enjoyed her career as a Dental Assistant and an educator, retiring from Genesee Intermediate School District . June was a member of Montrose United Methodist Church, Montrose American Legion Post # 367 ladies auxiliary and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Montrose Chapter #351. She was blessed with a loving family and that is what she was dedicated to. Her devotion to her family and God ultimately gave her peace. Her faith gave her comfort in knowing we will all be together again someday.
She is survived by the other loves of her life: Sons: John Palsgrove (Toni), Jason Blackburn (Kelly); Grandchildren: Anthony Palsgrove, Zachary Palsgrove, Jaxon Blackburn, Logan Blackburn and McKenzie Stroh; many other close friends and relatives: sister in law Kathy (Susie) Walker; cousin ("aunt") Donna Seaford, Connie Smith and Bernie Gengler.
