HILDEN, WILLIAM RUSSELL – Of Grand Blanc, age 93, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Independence Village of Plymouth.
Funeral service will be held 3pm Sunday, August 25, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 12pm Sunday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Bill was born in Flint, Michigan on July 9, 1931, the son of the late Earl and Ethyl (Quibell) Hilden. He was a resident of Flint and Grand Blanc until 2021, when he moved to Plymouth, MI. He graduated from Central High School, Class of 1949. On January 6, 1951 he married Beverly J. Watkins. He served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War from 1952-1954. Upon his return to Flint, he was employed with General Motors Service Parts Operation, retiring in 1987 with 35 years of service.
Over his lifetime he's owned 80 new cars because he said he just loved that new car smell. His grandson Alec was the apple of his eye and he loved watching him play sports.
He is survived by daughter Stacey (John) Woodman;
grandson, Alec W. Woodman (the apple of his eye) of Northville;
brother Jerry Hilden of Roswell, GA,
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly; parents, Earl and Ethel Hilden, 3 brothers, Earl Jr., Donald and Everett and 2 sisters, Katherine Shelley and Margaret Ann Manley.
