Forsythe, Gerlad “Jere” – of Clio, age 78, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024, at his residence surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Burial to take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive visitors on Friday from 1PM until 8PM with an Eagles service at 7PM. Also, on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation.



Jere was born January 18, 1946, in Beech Grove, Indiana, to the late William and Kathryn (Blackmer) Forsythe. Jere married Mary Diamond on December 3, 1999; they shared many wonderful memories together. A proud United States Marine Corps veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Jere's dedication to his country was only matched by his commitment to his community. Following his service, he embarked on a career in law enforcement, first as a City of Saginaw Police Officer, and later as an Officer for Saginaw Valley State University. Eventually, Jere took the reins of his own successful Investigation Services firm.



A man of many talents and passions, Jere's involvement in various organizations spoke volumes about his character. A revered member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge, the Grand Lodge Free accepted Masons, the Shriners, and the Clio Eagles, where he served as president for three years, Jere was also a proud member of the Double Duce Car Club. He was renowned for his love of antique cars, often showcasing his finds at car shows where he amassed numerous trophies and accolades.



Jere's zest for life extended beyond his professional endeavors; he was a University of Michigan and Lions football fan, finding joy in cheering on his favorite teams. Furthermore, his love for his shih tzus, Penny and Ginger, illuminated his compassionate nature and earned them a special place in his heart as his loyal companions. More than anything he was a wonderful husband, dad, grandpa, brother and friend who will be missed by many.



Surviving are: Loving wife of 25 years, Mary Forsythe; Children: William “Billy” (Jennifer) Forsythe, Andrew Forsythe, Tracey Arseneau, John (Tracy) Willey, Jeffrey (Barbara Vanalst) Willey; Grandchildren: Justin Forsythe, Justin (Lia) Beaudrie, Jordan Willey, Jade ( Cat Sanchez) Willey; Great Granddaughter, Joelle Beaudrie; Brother, Tom Forsythe; Brother-In-Law, Franklin Diamond; Nephews: Chris and Cliff Forsythe. Many good friends. He is preceded in death by his sister- in- law, Patricia Forsythe and father-in-law, Jack Diamond. The family would like to say a special thank you to McLaren Hospice and nurse Sara for all the compassion and care.
