KUNKLEMAN, Betty Jean (Koepke) - Of Swartz Creek, formerly of Saginaw, age 81 passed away on June 7, 2012. Betty is survived by her husband, Robert Kunkleman; her children, Gary (Pam) Koepke of Gulliver, Ernest (Mary) Koepke of Saginaw, Karen (Ron) Peterson of Burt; 6 grandchildren;
6 great-grandchildren; in addition to step-children, Kevin Kunkleman, Joan Slama and Dale (Clarissa) Kunkleman; 9 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren. Two sisters preceded her in death, Joan Schibelhut and Joyce Engelke. One sister, Merlien Oehring survives her.
Betty was born June 11, 1930 to the late Henry and Flistia (Beck) Gilles.
She married Franklin (Bud) Koepke in 1948, who preceded her in death in 2003. Betty retired from the Saginaw School District, where she enjoyed many years as a school secretary. She was a member of the Buttons and Bows Square Dancers Group. In 2006 she married Robert Kunkleman. Betty was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, friend and member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Grand Blanc. She will be dearly missed. Visitation will be at the Swartz Funeral home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint on Monday, June 11, 2012 from 2-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 5501 Gratiot Road, Saginaw, MI at 10 AM on June 12, 2012, with visitation 1 hour prior to the service, Pastors Mark Lindloff and Dennis Himm will officiate with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
