Marie Dorothy Stevenson Barry passed away on Wednesday, June 12 th , 2024 at her home in Winchester, TN at the age of 85. Marie was born on January 9 th , 1939 in Flint, MI to the late Elizabeth and James Stevenson. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Lynwood Barry; her sons, Drake Barry (Diane), and Darren Barry (Jamie); eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by one son, Dane. Marie was a retired employee of General Motors AC Spark Plug Division. Throughout her life, Marie was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church in Tullahoma, TN, Trinity United Church in Flint, MI, and The Church on the Hill in Dundee, FL. She was an active member of The Red Hat Society, and was a 20 year member of the FCE in Millington, MI. Marie was active and competitive in a wide variety of hobbies and sports. She walked and ran in the Crim Events, walked the Mackinaw Bridge on Labor Day starting with her mother, and continuing the tradition with her boys, followed by her grandkids. Marie was a left-handed bowler, and carried a 185 average. She bowled in the Women’s Nationals for 28 years, as well as state and city tournaments. Marie had many 600 series, and two 700 series. She also enjoyed golf, softball, and playing cards-winning tournaments in Cribbage and Euchre. She and her friend Jean dominated the Florida Senior Games in several events. After retirement, Lyn and Marie traveled for ten years, visiting nearly all of the states including Alaska, Canada and its providences, as well as most of the National Parks, and all of the
major Civil War battlefields.
Visitation for Mrs. Barry will be held on Thursday, June 20th , 2024 from 12:00-2:00pm at Kilgore Funeral Home. A service to honor her life will follow at 2:00pm in the Kilgore Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Tim McGehee officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Additionally, a memorial gathering will be held in Flint, MI on Saturday, July 13th from 12:00-4:00pm at Luigi’s Restaurant (2132 Davison Rd. Flint, MI 48506). For those who wish, the family asks that donations in Marie’s memory be made to The American Cancer Society- P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718). Marie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will me missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
