FORTINO, Dorothy May - Age 91, of Swartz Creek, died Saturday, February 18, 2017. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, February 23, 2017 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, Swartz Creek with Fr. Louis Ekka officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday and Wednesday , February 21 and 22, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek, and at Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the church. A rosary will be prayed 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ?

Dorothy was born May 28, 1925 in Owosso, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Lake) Marrah. She married Robert D. "Bob" Fortino May 11, 1946 in Owosso, bringing with her kindness and loyalty. He preceded her in death December 5, 2013. She lived in Swartz Creek for the past 71 years and was a longtime member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Working along side her husband and children, she was a fixture at the family business, Fortino's Food Market, for many years.

She will be remembered as a loving woman who enriched the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in unique and special ways. Her caring nature, hard work ethic, and commitment to her family will always be cherished.

She is survived by: seven children, Paul (Judith) Fortino of Swartz Creek, Teresa O'Brien of Swartz Creek, Mary Ann (Victor) Dipzinski of Clio, Robert Thomas Fortino of Canton, OH, David M. (Mary) Fortino of Swartz Creek, James Fortino of Swartz Creek, and Mark Fortino of Swartz Creek; 10 grandchildren, Maria Fortino, Alicia (Christopher) Marting, Melissa Fortino, Angela Fortino, Stephanie Fortino, Patrick O'Brien, Sara Dipzinski, Victor Dipzinski, Allison Fortino, and Nicholas Fortino; two great grandchildren, Brandon Marting and Renee Marting; brothers, Bill Marrah of Flint and Don Marrah of Owosso; sister, Leona Jenkins of Owosso; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents; infant son in 1949; granddaughter, Elizabeth Fortino; and siblings, Helen, Joe, Al, and Bud.
