NOVAJOVSKY, Joseph M. - Of Grand Blanc, age 92, died Monday, May 8, 2017 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11804 South Saginaw, Grand Blanc. Monsignor Jerry Vincke and Father Gary Koenigsknecht concelebrating.

Visitation will be from 4-7pm Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. An additional visitation will be held at church on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of the Mass.

Cremation has taken place at his request.

Internment is scheduled for 2pm Thursday in Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Joe was born in Olyphant, PA on February 22, 1925 to Mary and Joseph Novajovsky. At the age of 17 he proudly served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. Upon discharge he worked building airplanes until he applied for a GI Bill and received an aeronautical engineering degree from Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology at St Louis University. On September 10, 1944 he married Ann “Caryl” Covell to whom he was devoutly married to for 67 years until his death. Joe was a General Motors engineer for nearly 40 years, retiring from his passion in 1980, and later focused on sharing his incredible talents related to fine woodworking, remodeling and handyman work. He was a member of Holy Family Church for 57 years where he was a Eucharistic Minister. Joe was active in the Retired Men’s Fellowship of Greater Flint as well as SAE. He also dedicated his volunteerism to Habitat for Humanity as well as Holy Family Outreach who provides assistance to the needy of his community.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Outreach Program at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Surviving are wife, Ann “Caryl”; son, Andrew (Orysia) of Ponte Vedra, FL; daughters, Dee Ann Martin from Cincinnati OH and Nancy (Todd) Halverson, of Alpharetta, GA. He was an adoring grandfather to 8 grandchildren and was blessed with 3 great-grandchildren.
