SALGAT, Virginia Elizabeth – Of Swartz Creek, age 96, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her residence.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2019 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, G-3139 Hogarth Avenue, Flint, Father Anthony Strouse officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Mrs. Salgat will be at the church from 11:30 a.m. Friday until the time of the Mass.
Virginia was born in Caro, Michigan on September 21, 1922, the daughter of the late David and Emma (LaFave) Romain.
On November 22, 1947 she married Lucein Salgat.
She was an active member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW.
She enjoyed being outdoors and being physically active.
Surviving are daughter, Cinda and husband Lyall Buck of Clio;
sons, Lynn of Swartz Creek and Bill of Swartz Creek;
grandchildren, Morgan Salgat (Krystal Huston) of Imlay City and Maria Salgat (Joe Dunham) of Columbiaville,
Noelle and husband Derrick Dabbs of Ann Arbor,
Holly and husband Matt Groulx of AL.;
10 great-grandchildren;
1 great-great-grandson;
sisters, Irene Giroux and Maxine Baxter;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death her husband, Lucein; daughter, Kay Lewis; 2 brothers, Vincent and Edward Romain; sister, Marie Beach.
