KURSIK, Donna Maginn – Of Grand Blanc, age 81, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Genesys Regional Medical Center. Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Kirkridge Presbyterian Church, 8070 South Saginaw Road, Grand Blanc, Pastor Glenn Grant officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Those desiring may make contributions to Kirkridge Presbyterian Church or the Flint Olympian CANUSA Association. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. Mrs. Kursik was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan on October 28, 1930, the daughter of Donald and Una Maginn. She was a lifelong resident of the Flint area. She married Henry Kursik on September 1, 1951 and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1993.
She was a 1952 graduate of Michigan State University, a member of the Alpha Omega Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of the Southeast Chapter of MARSP and a member of the Grand Blanc Senior Center. Mrs. Kursik was an Elder and Deacon with Community Presbyterian Church for over 54 years. She was a current member of Kirkridge Presbyterian Church and served on the Session. She was a volunteer with Genesys Hospital. Mrs. Kursik taught in the Carman and Flint Schools for over 22 years, retiring in 1991.
Surviving are two children, Rick and wife Amy of Linden, Dr. Nancy Kursik of Holly; three grandchildren, Megan, Andrew "Buddy" and Emily; sister, Louise Lamb of Fort Madison, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Kim Turner, Audrey Laue, Paula Ridley, Elaine Gooch and her Bridge Buddies. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jane Goodale.
