Mary Mitchell formerly of Flushing, age 92, died Monday, December 2, 2013, at her home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley St., Flint. Fr. Thomas Firestone will officiate. Burial will be at Flint Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until time of the Mass at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to New Life Center, Flint.
Mary was born in Bethlehem, PA on August 6, 1921, the daughter of Andrew and Helen (Mahilo) Havrilla. She married Ward A. Mitchell on November 16, 1946, in Flint, MI. They were married for 61 years before he preceded her in death on October 7, 2007. Mary retired from AC Sparkplug. She was one of the first “30 years and out” retirees. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Dom Polski, Daughters of Isabella, and Industrial Women’s Business Association.
Mary is survived by: daughter, Lynne and husband Delbert Roy of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Michelle and husband Jason Draper of Flushing, Jason and wife Courtney Roy of Flint, Brian Roy of California, Justin and wife Ivona Roy of Florida; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons. She was also preceded in death by a son, Dennis Mitchell, in 1994.
