TANNER, Rodney A. – of Burt, age 64, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at his residence.
Rodney was born March 28, 1949 in Kane, PA to Claude and Dorothy "Faith" Tanner. He graduated in Smethport, PA and obtained his college degree from CCAF, Lowery Air Force Base, CO. Rodney married Yvonne Sutter at Travis Air Force Base, CA. Mr. Tanner served in the USAF during the Gulf war and retired in 1996 as a Chief Master Sergeant from the USAF after 22 years of service. He was a member of Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish and the American Legion Post #212 of Chesaning. Rodney enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, woodworking, riding his Harley and John Deere.
Surviving are: wife of 37 years, Yvonne; children, Joanie (Jonah) Gillooly of Casa Grande, AZ, Todd (Dawn) Tanner of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Joseph Beebe, Kevin, Taylor and Brandon Garrigan; mother, Faith Tanner, siblings, Elaine (Rodney) Newton of Farmers Valley, PA, James (Eleanor) Tanner of Farmers Valley, PA, Sylvia (Ken) Johnson of IN, Claudia (Don) Fryer of PA; his Up North family of Linwood, MI; many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Claude. Thank you to heartland hospice for your care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, February 21, 2014 at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-8 PM. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery at 10:30 AM on Monday, February 24 . Contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #212 of Chesaning.
