YELLE, Albert David - Age 79, of Fenton, died Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 27, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Burial will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 5-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Al was born April 27, 1940 in Bay City, the son of Peter Paul and Grace (Naffie) Yelle. He was a 1958 graduate of Grand Blanc High School and attended Detroit Business College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. where he was a boxer and a pistol and rifle expert. Al married Judith Mattord February 18, 1995 in Las Vegas, NV. He had resided in Fenton for the past 27 years coming from Swartz Creek. He retired from the U.A.W. as a Legal Services Representative. He enjoyed golfing, cribbage, poker " especially Texas Hold 'Em", and traveling. His grandchildren were the love of his life, he enjoyed babysitting them and attending their sporting events.
Surviving are: his wife, Judith; children, David (Ann) Yelle of Mt. Pleasant, PA, Jeffrey (Val) Haggerty of Brighton, Kelly (Brad) Waterman of Grand Ledge, Nicole (Tom) Heslip of New Lothrup, and Joseph (Brittany) Haggerty of Fenton; grandchildren, Caleb, Kate, Lily, Eddie, Thomas, Ryan, Izzy, Kevin, Sammy, Ben, Patrick, Paige, Declan, and Charleston; brother, Paul (Diana) Yelle of Saginaw; sister, Patricia Kirk of Flint; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Duane Yelle; sisters, Joanne Parker, Jeanette Whitson, and Karen Hentsle. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com.
