GYENESE, Anna “Jean” – Of Flint, age 89, died Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Maple Woods Manor.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jerry Spring officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Those desiring may make contributions to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gyenese was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 10, 1923, the daughter of John and Pauline Rummins and was a resident of the Flint area since 1940.
She married Joseph Gyenese on April 17, 1942 in Angola, Indiana.
She was a member of New Life Wesleyan Church.
Mrs. Gyenese began the Brownies and Boy Scout units in Otisville in 1949. She was past-president of the Wesleyan Guild of Otisville United Methodist Church. She bowled with the Lads and Lassies.
Mrs. Gyenese was a bus driver for Lakeville School District for 2 years and Carman-Ainsworth School District for 16 years, retiring in 1980.
Surviving are four daughters, Jeanne Ann and husband Gordon Thayer of Swartz Creek, Carol and husband Robert Sanborn of Davison,
Linda and husband Tony DeFilippo of Valencia, California and Deborah Godfrey of Santa Clarita, California;
9 grandchildren;
16 great-grandchildren;
2 great-great-grandchildren;
2 sisters, Mary McCann of Gaylord, Shirley Daly of Davison;
brother, John and wife Janet Rummins of Rock Hill, South Carolina;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, on October 21, 2003 and her parents.
