Roberta Lee “Bobbie” Hoydic of Flushing, age 77, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Genesys Health Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at St. Robert Catholic Church, 310 N. Cherry St., Flushing. Fr. Paul Schwermer will officiate. Burial will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until time of the Mass Thursday at the church. A Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or Flint Area Right to Life.
Bobbie was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI on June 15, 1935, the daughter of the late Albin and Louella (Fitzpatrick) Martin. She married Michael J. Hoydic on July 17, 1967. He preceded her in death on February 21, 1996.
Bobbie was a Third Grade Teacher with the Bendle School District and taught at the T.N. Lamb building from 1960-1972. She was an active volunteer in political causes, working hard with her best friend, Ann Wright. She enjoyed ice skating, board games, and games of chance.
Bobbie is survived by: her beloved son, Sean; grandson, Rutger; sister, Beverley Martin; brother-in-law, Robert Revis; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Zandra Fitzgerald on June 2, 2007.
