Born February 9, 1947, in Boscobel, WI, to Lavern and Eileen (Waltz) Brechler, Connie was a natural leader from an early age. She was captain of her cheerleading team, a debate team member, and a graduate of Boscobel High School (1965). She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan and married John “Jack” Karl Feuerstein on April 26, 1969.
Connie dedicated her life to political advocacy and public service. A passionate Democrat, she worked tirelessly to engage voters, host fundraisers, and ensure access to the polls. She campaigned for Bobby Kennedy and served as a Regional Manager for Senator Debbie Stabenow. She spearheaded local grassroots movements and never missed an election cycle. She also championed social justice, participating in protests and marches, going as far as traveling to Chiapas, Mexico for a peacekeeping mission. In one of her most profound accomplishments, Connie led a successful grassroots effort to reform Michigan’s parole system, collaborating with state representatives to gather signatures and bring the issue to the legislature, where it was passed into law.
Beyond politics, Connie was deeply committed to her community. She was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, serving on the parish council and Catholic Charities board. She also co-owned Avanti Travel, taught travel school, and organized trips, ensuring others could experience the world as she did.
Connie’s warmth and determination touched countless lives. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jack; daughters, Kamala (Pedro Bandera) Stiles of Fenton and Kelly (Christopher) Hiler of Fenton; grandchildren, Kayla, Sean, and Nicholas Stiles and Madison, Macy, and Briella Hiler; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Connie’s legacy of service, activism, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
