Clark, David R. of Flushing, age 82, died Monday, April 11, 2016, at his home. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to PAWS of Michigan, Genesee County Humane Society, or Flushing Christian Outreach Center.
David was born in Flint, Michigan on June 25, 1933, the son of Howard H. and Ellen J. (Countryman) Clark. He married Shirley A. Young in 1954, in Flushing. Dave was a graduate of Flushing High School, Class of 1951 and then from GMI's Jig and Fixture skilled trades apprenticeship program. He served in the United States Naval Reserves for eight years. Dave worked at Fisher Body for 40 years, before retiring in 1991. He also served on the Flushing Fire Department for 25 years.
Dave is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley; three children, Douglas (Deborah) Clark of New Milford, CT, Carol Kline of Flushing, Nancy (Rick) Mittelstadt of Mt. Pleasant, SC; five grandchildren, Kimberly (Daniel) Vaughn, Matthew (Erica) Vaughn, Megan (Nick) Colvard, Patrick Mittelstadt, Katrina Clark; one great-grandson, Andrew Colvard; sister, Barbara (Bill) Gleasure, sisters-in-law, Marty Clark, Nancy Young; brother-in-law, Phil (Cam) Young; many nieces and nephews, other extended family; and his beloved pets, Roy Boy, Sebastian, and Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Clark; and son-in-law, Buck Kline.
The family extends special gratitude to Nancy Young, Perry and Debi Wright; nurse, Amanda; CNA's, Kori, Jason; Chaplain Russ and Heart to Heart Hospice.
