WHEELER, Charles Frank – Of Burton, age 76, died Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.
Memorial service will be held 11am Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Visitation 10am Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Pastor Tim Hicks of Christian Love Faith Center officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Charles was born in Ludington, Michigan on March 1, 1943, the son of Charles Clifford and Bessie Ruth (Dobias) Wheeler. Charles served as a Vietnam Vet from 1965-1966 with the Engineer Corps. He loved his country and was proud of his service to our country; he was also an active member of the VFW for many years. Charles loved hot dogs, hot rods and hot food. He had a 70 Buick Grand Sport that he took drag racing for many years. He was employed with General Motors Buick for 36 years doing Machine Repair. Charles was a strong UAW advocate and active union member. He loved nature, being outside and watching birds. Charles enjoyed fishing both from the shore and out in Lake Michigan. As a Grandfather he enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sporting events and their school activities. Charles was an animal advocate and loved dogs.
Surviving are daughter, Renee LaVelle and Spouse Derek LaVelle;
Grandchildren, Cody LaVelle and Emma LaVelle;
Daughter, Michelle Harvey and Spouse Thomas Harvey;
Grandchildren Christian Harvey, Noah Harvey and Shawn Smith;
Great-grandson Oliver Smith;
Brother, Robert Wheeler and sister-in-law, Chery Wheeler;
And numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and dogs, Hilda and Alex.
