Douglas Craig Heath, age 67, of Durand was taken suddenly into our Lord’s embrace on July 21, 2024. A Memorial service will be held Friday, August 9, 2024 at the Durand Church of God at 11:00 am with a lunch following. Family will receive family, friends and neighbors one hour (10 am) before the service. Bishop Mark Fernandez will officiate. Interment will take place at White Lake Cemetery in the future. Arrangements are being handled by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel.
Doug was a devoted son, brother, uncle, father, and church member at Durand Church of God. He was born September 15, 1956 into the family of Ronald and Jean Heath of Byron, MI. Doug was one of six children. He was active in all things farming in his younger years and lived and worked his entire life in the Byron/Durand area. He graduated from Byron High School in 1976. Doug was a dedicated member of the Durand Church of God and provided countless hours of service to the church and the community. His church family relationships were precious to Doug and he lived his Christian faith with dedication and love. Doug’s voicemail greeting will forever be his legacy: “This is the Doug Heath’s residence….leave a message and remember: “This is the Day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad to be in it.” Doug was a devoted father to his two sons and loved his family very much. He married Carmen Rodriguez from Durand on July 1980. They had two sons: Matthew Craig Heath (7-21-83) and Michael Daniel Heath (5-17-87).
Doug was predeceased by his parents Ronald and Jean Heath; and his younger sibling Everett William Heath. He is survived by his sons: Michael, Matthew and daughter-in-law Sandy. His siblings: Debra (Heath) Sands, Ronald Heath, Amy (Heath) Acres, and Terrence (Terry) Heath. His brother-in-law’s: Dale Sands, Richard Acres and sister-in-law’s Nancy (Kelley) Heath and Shelly Key and many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. The Rodriguez family.
