WENDLAND, Carol – of Lapeer, age 72, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024 at her residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Father Roy Horning celebrant. Interment will be in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors from 1 – 7 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, beginning at 10 AM. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM on Sunday at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Carol’s memory.
Carol was born on January 9, 1952, in Flint, Michigan, to the late John and Ellen Michalik. She married her beloved husband, Douglas Wendland, on August 26, 1972, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Flint. A true lover of life, Carol cherished her adventures, especially the trips to Mackinac Island and the thrill of exploring lighthouses. Her heart was always open to new experiences, whether it was visiting wineries or enjoying the excitement of casinos. Carol found joy in the simple pleasures, like watching birds at her feeders, which brought her immense happiness. Christmas was a particularly special time for her, filled with love and laughter as she delighted in giving gifts to her family, especially the children. Her spirit and warmth will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Douglas; son, David Wendland; siblings, Ron (the late Marian) Michalik, Don (Terrie) Michalik, Mike (Lois) Michalik, and Betty (Norm) Sherwood, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many friends.
