JONES, Dennis Wayland – of Flint, age 94, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2019. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held 1 PM Monday, December 23, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 W. Flint St., Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Todd Frusti officiating. A private burial will be held in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 PM and 5-8 PM Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service on Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of Davison.
Dennis was born in Gratiot County on January 3, 1925, son of the late Matthew and Kittie (Mills) Jones. He married Goldie Ruth Sheridan on May 25, 1974; she preceded him in death October 14, 2017. Dennis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and Davison VFW Post #4087. He retired from Buick after 40 years of service. Dennis was very athletic, enjoyed hunting, going for walks, gardening and woodworking. He was very proud of his time in the service during WWII, from 1943 – 1946, while he served on the U.S.S. Enterprise.
Dennis is survived by his children, Ken (Diana) Jones and Jerry (Yvonne) Jones; stepchildren, Wayne (Vicky) Sheridan, Carol (Charles) Ferguson, Wendy (Larry) Bosley, Jason (Cheryl) Sheridan, Jeff (Darlene) Sheridan; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
