KEY, James Andrew – of Columbiaville, age 78, passed away on November 20, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Father Roy Horning officiating. Visitation will take place from 4-7 PM on Monday, November 25, 2024, and again on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marine Corps League Detachment #155 Honor Guard in memory of James.
James was born in Cullman, Alabama on December 16, 1945, son of James and Louise (Cone) Key. He married Gloria Heit on December 16, 1966 in Burton, Michigan, beginning a loving and lasting partnership. He proudly served in the Army National Guard for six years, a testament of his commitment to his country and community. After a successful 30-year career as an electrician at Buick, James retired, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication. Known affectionately as “Mr. Holloway,” James was a man of many passions. He was an avid fisherman and skilled cribbage player, always ready for a game or a day on the water. His love for life extended to his family, who he cherished deeply. James had a special fondness for music and dancing, and his sharp wit brought joy to everyone around him. He was also an enthusiastic traveler, always seeking new adventures and experiences. James will always be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the love he gave to all who knew him.
James is survived by his wife, Gloria; children: Jacob Osborne, Raymond (Brenda) Osborne, and Elizabeth (William) Wheeler; grandchildren: Heather, Lisa, Brittany, Matthew, Emily, Cody, Nick, Mary, Jack, and Andrew; great grandchildren: Keagan, Jocelynn, and Elliana; mother, Louise Thomas; brother, John Thomas; sister, Connie Selvera and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by father, James O. Key; brothers, Jerry Key and Frank Thomas.
