Heather was born on March 18, 1974, in Carson City, Michigan to Mark and Darlene (Peet) Kraus. Heather earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Central Michigan University and continued her education at Eastern Michigan University where she earned her Master’s Degree. Heather was employed by Bendle Public Schools for 24 years. During that time, she taught elementary and middle school, touching the lives of hundreds of students throughout the years. She found her true calling teaching math to eighth graders. In that position she was able to share her sense of humor and build inspiring relationships with students. Heather had a wonderful personality and quick wit which made it easy for coworkers and students to love her. The relationships that she built at Bendle will be cherished forever and she will be dearly missed by her friends.
Even though Heather was an accomplished educator, her greatest achievement was being a wife and mother. Heather met the love of her life, Jeffrey Wilbur, and they were married on February 14, 2007. Together they had one son Hayden, and she was blessed with two bonus children Tyler and Tori. She loved watching her son, Hayden participating in many sports. Heather could always be found on the sideline cheering on him and his teammates.
In addition to supporting Hayden in all activities, she enjoyed many hobbies. She loved reading, quilting, listening to music, and spending quality time with friends and family. Heather also enjoyed lounging with Jeff watching their favorite shows. Additionally, she supported her community by donating blood regularly and volunteering at Adopt-A-Pet. She tried fostering animals but, once they came home with Heather, they became part of the family.
Heather is survived by her husband Jeff; son Hayden; bonus children Tyler and Tori; parents Mark and Darlene Kraus; grandmother Joyce Carpenter; many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents Adolphus Alvin and Lucille Prevost; grandparents Ned and Alice Kraus.
