ACKEN, William - Of Flint, age 94, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Regency of Grand Blanc.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Monday, March 16, 2020 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Pastor Ryan Story officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Visitation 2-8pm Sunday and 12pm Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family.
William was born in Grand Rapids on September 9, 1925, the son of the late Joseph and Alice (Brooks) Acken. He retired from General Motors Fisher Body Coldwater Road, after 32 years of service. William participated and placed in the Senior Olympics. He was also an avid golfer, bowler and fisherman. Above all he was a great husband, father, grandfather, joke teller, story teller and card player
Surviving are wife, Shirley Acken;
Daughters, Kathy Faltin, Janet (Greg) Beard, Mary Acken, Renae Limoseth and Jennifer (Tom) Draheim;
Grandchildren, Kim (Gary) Wright and John Faltin, Michael (Bri) Smith, Matthew (Jessica) Limoseth and Jessica (Mitchell) Murray and Andrea and Alexis Draheim;
8 great-grandchildren and one more on the way;
Twin brother, Alfred Acken;
And former wife, Diana Acken;
And beloved cats, Baby and Romeo.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Acken, Sisters, Catherine Briggs and June Acken, and son-in-laws, Jim Faltin and Michael Limoseth.
