GANCSOS, Donald Peter – of Burton, MI, age 75, went home to his new eternal life with the Lord on Friday, August 24, 2018. Donald was surrounded by his family and special friends at home. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 2 PM Friday, August 31, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Inurnment, with Military Honors, will take place 1:30 PM Friday, September 7, 2018 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. The family will receive visitors 1-2 PM Friday, August 31, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to For-Mar Nature Preserve & Arboretum, in Donald’s memory.
Donald was born in Flint, MI on May 31, 1943, son of the late Peter, Jr. and Helen (Carley) Gancsos. He attended Kearsley Schools and was a graduate of Beecher High School Class of 1961. Donald earned a diploma in Television and Radio, Communications and Electronic Controls for Automation from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, IL on February 22, 1963. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968. Donald married Fay Hingtgen on August 26, 1978. He was employed with Newkirk Electric Association as an Electronics Technician and ABC 12/Disney as a Sound Electronics Technician. Donald enjoyed many hobbies including, photography, traveling, model trains and electronics. He was one of the first people to build and own a personal computer. Donald was a certified “techie”, always helping his friends with any computer issues. He was kind, considerate, soft spoken, a sweet and gentle man who loved his Fayzee. Donald will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Fay; sister, Debra (Russell) Stevens; brother, Michael (Nadine) Gancsos; many other loving family members and friends, especially the Thursday Lunch Group and his techie friends, Bob Wilcox and Al Langdon.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Reverence Hospice, Comfort Keepers and many dear friends, especially Dan and Peg Keehner, for their love and support.
