MILLER, Nancy J. – of Montrose, age 80, died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Westfall AFC in Montrose. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, March 18, 2013 at Mt. Sinai Ev. Lutheran Church in Montrose. Pastor Allen Lindke officiating. Cremation to follow. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Sunday from 1-8PM. She will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Nancy was born on June 28, 1932 in Flint to the late Donald and Vera (Steffee) Dowell. She lived most of her life in Montrose retiring to DeTour Village in the UP of Michigan. Nancy married Davey Miller on September 14, 1951 in Oakland, CA. He preceded her in death on July 25, 2000. Mrs. Miller worked for the Montrose Community Schools in the cafeteria. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Ev. Lutheran Church in Montrose and a former member of Our Savior Ev. Lutheran Church in Cedarville, MI. She loved making Burr Furr blankets and giving them as gifts, flower gardening and looking at family pictures.
Surviving are: children, Yvonne Hawrylo of Montrose, Michael Miller of Houghton Lake, Brian (Kris) Miller of Oakfield, WI; grandchildren, Jeremiah Miller, Aaron Miller, Matthew Hawrylo, (significant other Rebecca Kennedy), Luke (Elizabeth) Hawrylo, Jenny (Josh) Metzger, Nicholas Gray; great grandchildren, Noah Hawrylo, Audrey Hawrylo, Leah Metzger; Rebecca's daughter, Brynn Kennedy; brothers, Dick (Barb) Dowell, Ward (Joanne) Dowell; several nieces and nephews.
