BECKHAM, Penny Marie – Of Flint, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2014.
Penny lived most of her life in Flint, Michigan after moving from Richmond, Virginia, where she was born October 30, 1924 to Herbert and Louise Carter.
Penny worked at McLaren Regional Medical Center and retired with 45 years of service.
Penny enjoyed going to University of Michigan football games, running the Crim Road Race, Mackinaw Island Road Races and several local road races.
Penny is survived by four children, Wanda (Harry Garrison) Merrell, H.J. (Janice) Beckham, Ted Beckham, Jean Cook and one grandchild, Timothy Scott Beckham.
She also leaves behind the children of her beloved companion of 30 years (Charlie Brown), Charla Gae, Fr. Dennis Charles Brown and Jeffery (Cindy) Jay Brown.
Penny was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Jack Beckham, her beloved companion, Charlie Jay Brown; sister, Rose Alexander and her former daughter-in-law, Marcia Beckham.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration Of Life Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Community Church, 1201 West Twelfth Street, Flint, Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating, on what would have been her 90th birthday, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in Penny’s name to either the Carriagetown Ministries of Flint or the Crim Fitness Foundation. Both charities were very close to her heart.
