POINSETT, Ace F. – Of Swartz Creek, age 84, died Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at his residence.
Memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2018 at the
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Dave Leineke officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Ace was born in Flint, Michigan on May 6, 1933, the son of Raymond and Ethel (Shields) Poinsett.
He graduated from Bendle High School in 1950.
Ace married Josephine (Jody) Farthing, the love of his life in 1956 in Flint.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
For many years he was a member of Hurley Health & Fitness.
He loved golfing, ice fishing, playing euchre and loved to play baseball. During his time in the Army he played baseball with Billy Martin.
Above all, Ace enjoyed his many years with his children, grandchildren and friends.
Surviving are wife, Jody;
children, Debbie Whitt, Brad (Deborah) Poinsett and Michael (Angela) Poinsett;
grandchildren, Tony (Kristen) Whitt, Michelle (Brandon)Miller and Stevie Poinsett;
great-grandchildren, Gabe Miller, Lily Whitt, Tatum Whitt and Grayson Whitt;
brother, Lee (Beverly) Poinsett;
many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randy and parents.
