Dorothy “Dot” Bullard
Age 73 of New Lothrop passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at St. Mary’s of Saginaw.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the New Lothrop Nazarene Church with Pastor Paul Bradshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 11 from 2:00 to 8:00pm at Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel.
Dorothy was born on April 15, 1945 to William and Jennie (Turner) Arrowood in Newport, Kentucky. She married the love of her life, William S. Bullard on December 19, 1964 at the New Lothrop Nazarene; they celebrated 53 years of marriage last year.
Dorothy spent her life as a caring, loving homemaker. She enjoyed raising her family and spent her years caring for her handicapped son, Greg. She loved her husband and children with all her heart. Dot was a member of the New Lothrop Nazarene Church, and she loved spending time with her Tops groups and swim ladies lunch group. She enjoyed going out to eat at restaurants, knitting hats for school children and newborns, and hunting for treasures at garage sales. She also loved her dogs.
For Dot, Christmas was always a very special time of year. She felt the joy of Christmas every day, spent the whole year gift shopping, and loved decorating her home for the holidays. Most of all, Dot loved opening her home for her family and friends. Proverbs 31:10 says a virtuous woman’s price is far above rubies. Dorothy was a virtuous woman. She had morals above reproach. Her husband and children can call her blessed. She instructed her children in the way they should go. She will be missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Bill Bullard; her daughter, Jennie (Kevin) Carlton; her son, Greg Bullard; her grandchildren, Justin Carlton (Korey Kinde) and Tara Carlton; her great-grandson, Cade Carlton; her brother, William (Jessie) Arrowood; her sisters, Nannie Fletcher, Betty Herald, and Barb (Jerry) Johnson; her dog, Zoey; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, William and Jennie Arrowood; her brothers-in-law, Wilson Deaton and Johnny Herald; and her dog, Buddy.
