BOENSCH, Raymond Leo of Merrill, Michigan, formerly of Indiantown, passed away on Friday, May 03, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old. Raymond L. Boensch was born on October 17, 1929, in Indiantown to the late, Carl and Agatha Boensch. He married the love of his life, Dolores A. Colmus on June 25, 1955, in Saginaw, at St. Joseph Catholic Church; she preceded him in death on April 17, 2010. Ray was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954, continuing his service as a reservist until he was honorably discharged in 1960. Ray was employed by the Department of Public Works in Merrill; retiring in November 1995 after many years of dedicated service. He was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Hemlock. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, but above all he truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are three children: Linda Rundenza, John (Lynn) Boensch, Beverly (Troy) Bellinger; eight grandchildren: Tina Garcia, Cynthia Garcia, Marcella Garcia, Juan Garcia, Jr., Nathan Bellinger, Anthony Bellinger, LeeAnn Bellinger, Christopher Bellinger; six great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; sister, Pat Plowdrey; brother, Leonard (Carol) Boensch; three brothers-in-law: Eugene, Daniel and Robert Colmus; three sisters-in-law, Lillian (Bill) Glency, Jacqueline (Kurt) Meinke and Mary (Charles) Moore. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers: Aggie Boensch, Francis (Lucille) Boensch, Carl Boensch, Bernard (Helen) Boensch; three brothers-in-law: Benny Colmus, Alvin Colmus and Earl Colmus.

FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 St. Mary’s Drive, Hemlock. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Military Honors will follow under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 1859. Private burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery.

VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. Ray will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
