SHOCK, Mildred J. – of Montrose, age 100, died Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc. Funeral services will be held 2PM Thursday, January 18, 2018 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Burial to follow in Montrose Township Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 1PM until the time of service at 2PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mildred was born June 7, 1917 in Cardwell, Missouri to the late Henry and Bessie (Mullinix) Nance. She graduated from Central High School in 1934. Mildred retried from Smith Bridgman’s department store in Flint after 20 years. She enjoyed doing embroidery, taking trips with the Montrose senior center, and candy corn and caramels. Mildred especially loved her Detroit Tigers.
Surviving are: Daughter, Catherine “Joanne” (Theodore) Cardinal; Grandchildren: Kenneth Cardinal, Douglas (Debbie Dikes) Cardinal, Jamie Spencer, Kimberly Spencer, James (Anita) Spencer, Katie Spencer, and Many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanette Spencer, great granddaughter, Megan Ward, and son-in-law, James Spencer.
