ALTHEIDE, Phillip B. - Of Flint, age 76, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Friday, May 3, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Rev. Father Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating.
Cremation to follow services. Burial cremated remains in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to either the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Visitation 12-2pm and 4-8pm Thursday and 12pm Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Phillip was born in Flint on December 10, 1942, the son of Daniel and Irma (Jones) Altheide. He attended Davison Schools until he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was honorably discharged on May 4, 1964 becoming a very Proud Veteran. He was employed by the Burton Police Department for 24 years, retiring in 1997. While at Burton, Phill helped to establish the Burton Police Officers Association and was instrumental in delivering Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to the needy. He loved to fish and hunt with his buddies and boys, but especially loved having family with him. On June 7, 1972, he married Dena Chiros and began a life full of love. He was a member of the American Legion Post 413 in Grand Blanc and the Fraternal Order of Police #126.
Cherishing his memory and feeling tremendous loss are wife, Dena;
sons, Tracy (Carole), Mark (Kim), Tom and Scott;
grandchildren, Christopher, Ava, Max and Jackson;
sisters, Sue (Leo), Pat and Judy;
brother-in-law, Nick Chiros (Jeanette) and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Frost.
many, many loving nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Kenny Karnes.
