Rose, William L. of Flushing, age 68, died Monday, September 11, 2017, at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Flushing. Rev. Clifford Bira will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Friday at the church until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Flushing Christian Outreach Center, American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
William was born in Flint, Michigan on March 30, 1949, the son of Harlon and Norma (Soderbloom) Rose. He married Peggy O’Brien in Flint, Michigan on August 20, 1977. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2010. William was a life-long member of the Flushing community and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for over 30 years. He worked for 33 years at James Lumber and Home Center. William enjoyed woodworking and wood carving, including furniture and clocks. He loved the outdoors, especially camping and gardening. William was an avid Detroit Tiger fan. He enjoyed reading and had an extensive pocket knife collection. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and ability to make the best of every situation.
William is survived by his children, Jennifer and husband Jason Hawkins, Michael and wife Angela Rose, Brian and wife Christina Rose; grandchildren, Kylie, Emma, Taylor, McKenzie, Sydney, Joseph; brothers, Harlon and wife Margaret Ann Rose, Bruce and wife Joni Rose, Scott and wife Amy Rose; brother-in-law, John and wife Dawn O’Brien; and many loving extended family and dear friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Rose.
