ROGERS, JERRY “Rodney”
Rodney was born in Flint, Michigan on April 4, 1966 and died August 20, 2020 in Zdar Nad Sazavou, Czech Republic.
Our son Rodney "loved life" and all that it had to offer. He was a world traveler, avid sports enthusiast, extraordinary husband, father and son. He was “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” in Ohio and received many accolades. Rodney attended Ohio State University and owned several businesses throughout his lifetime. He was a devoted Christian and an everyday angel to many.
Rodney was one of God’s soldiers. In September 2012, he gave us a dream come true, our granddaughter, Mia Casey.
Naples, Florida was going to be his new home with his family. He loved the sound of the ocean, beautiful beaches, sunsets and rainbows. A perfect paradise.
He suffered with ALS showing great courage and was always positive. Rod made the world a better place, because he thought of ways to make a positive difference in the life’s of others. Those he came in contact with felt special by his acts of kindness and deeds of thoughtfulness. He had a way of bringing people together and making family times together more memorable and fun.
Rod had a way of making problems shrink by listening with an open heart and supported others with caring, kindness and love. His family meant everything to him and was his mother’s hero! Rod’s smile and laughter could light up a room and did! A book could have been written about his flamboyant life. He had a photographic memory and an analytical mind.
Rodney could recite the alphabet at the age of 2. He read an adult book to the principal and his kindergarten class on the first day of school. The principal was amazed and called him a little genius!
He always made us incredibly proud with his winning attitude and personality plus! Nothing makes a parent’s heart fill with joy more, than seeing their son succeed beyond expectations and living life to his full potential. Rodney put his unique signature on everything he did and always colored outside of the lines. We were so blessed to call you our son and you made our lives complete in every way! The empty place in our hearts and souls can only be healed by the gentle hands of time and knowing there is one more angel in Heaven! Our son is not gone, just away. “You will live in our hearts forever!” Rest in peace beloved son. Amen.
