CANTLEY, Lawrence “Oscar” – of Goodrich, age 87, passed away Friday, February 14, 2020 at his residence. A Funeral Service, with Military Honors, will be held at 11 AM Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Joel Walther officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 1-8 PM on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice.
Oscar was born in Flint, MI on April 23, 1932, son of the late Floyd and Grace (Coon) Cantley. He married Tonie Soave on November 22, 2008 in Goodrich and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2013. Oscar proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956. He retired from General Motors after many years. Oscar enjoyed golfing, hunting, repairing machinery and reading Louis L’Amour. The most important thing to him was time spent with friends and family.
Oscar is survived by step-daughter, Rachael Gilmour and family; many nieces, nephews and other loving family members. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Leta, Lila, Alwyn, Loren, Lola, Geneva, Elmo, William, Donald and Max.
