REED, Otis Lee – Formerly of Burton, age 86, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at Vicinia Gardens.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Chaplain Goodman L. Cox officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery to follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Visitation 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Otis was born in Dugger, Indiana on September 25, 1930, the son of the late Claude and Callie Reed.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Barbara Bell on August 30, 1952 in Flint and she preceded him in death on July 17, 2014.
Otis enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed singing, dancing, joking and socializing with his Vicinia family.
Mr. Reed was employed by Buick for 28 years.
Surviving are three children, Jeff (Marsha),
MaLeia (Eldred) Sadler and
Greg (Cheryl);
five grandchildren, Ryan (Renee) Sadler,
Lynsey Sadler-Epple,
Jamie (Keith) Johnson,
Justin Reed of Durand and
Chad (Mai) Reed;
9 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Sam Sadler, Brody Epple, Dylan, Ayden Reed, Ashlyn Johnson, Rosie, Reane and Victor Reed;
sister, LaDonna Meurer;
brother, Oran Reed;
several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Ola Bales and June Metcalf.
